Exisiting Conditions
The exterior stairs had deteriorated, and portions of the deck framing included rotten cantilevered joists. Both had compromised the long-term reliability of the structure and needed to be addressed.
Our Assessment
The deteriorated components could not simply be repaired in place. The existing stairs and cantilevered joists needed to be removed before the framing could be properly rebuilt and supported.
The Solution
We removed the failing stairs and joists, then reworked the framing with new 6×6 support posts. New exterior stairs were constructed to meet current code requirements and provide a properly supported connection to the deck.
Project Outcomes
The result was a structurally sound stair system and properly supported deck framing - replacing deteriorated components with a foundation built for long-term performance.
