RESULT

Safe, code-compliant access

Before & After

Exisiting Conditions

The existing staircase appeared functional but contained multiple structural and code deficiencies. Undersized stringers, inconsistent stair dimensions, and inadequate support created both safety concerns and long-term reliability issues.

Our Assessment

A detailed inspection revealed stair treads below minimum code requirements, riser heights that varied throughout the staircase, and insufficient structural support beneath the flight. The cumulative effect created a serious tripping hazard and a staircase that failed to meet modern residential standards.

The Solution

We removed the existing staircase and rebuilt it using properly sized structural members and a center stringer for additional support. Every tread and riser was carefully recalculated and installed to provide consistent dimensions throughout the entire staircase.

Project Outcomes

The homeowner now has a staircase that is safe, structurally sound, and built to current code requirements. Consistent tread depths, uniform riser heights, and proper support provide reliable access and peace of mind for years to come.

Why This Matters

Many staircase problems aren't obvious until measurements are taken.

Uneven risers, undersized framing, and improper stair geometry can create daily safety risks. Rebuilding the staircase correctly ensures consistent footing, reliable structural support, and confidence every time the stairs are used.
